Nationals rules and regulations

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the Nationals rules and regulations, please post them here. The TOYchallenge staff and other coaches will help to answer any concerns you have. Also, if you have any recommendations for other coaches please post them as well.

I have a question about the budget limit of $50 for development of the teams presentation, including donated materials. Any accompanying display should support your entry, but not overshadow it.

Is this $50 the complete budget for everything? Is is also for the toy/game? Or just the display?

Nationals Budget
• Nationals Expenses: If your team is invited to attend the Nationals, they are
allowed to spend an additional $200 to develop a working prototype. If the team
did not spend all of their initial PRE $150, that money cannot be rolled over and
added to the $200. The $200 amount includes all donated materials, actual
materials, materials in kind, etc. Teams must keep a list of itemized expenses
and show this and their receipts (signed off by their coach) at the Nationals. The
team can also, if they wish, spend up to an additional $50 to build a presentation
to show their entry at the Nationals. This expense is for all costs relating to other
items you may wish to use to showcase your toy which are not the toy itself (such
as a presentation board, photographs of the toy being used, etc.).

Please remember these basic rules:

-your toy must fit on a 5'-6' table with a small surrounding area
-you only have a limited time for the presentation and that includes judges questioning
-you may only spend $50 on the presentation (and this includes donations)
-make sure your presentation doesn't overshadow your toy or game
-make sure the coach does not have too much of a role in the designing and presenting

-you are there to guide the team, not do the work for them
