Arcadia students win science award

(Arcadia) - A six-member team made up of students from Arcadia's Dana Middle School recently won the Sally Ride Science foundation's National Competition for Best Engineering for the design of their toy, "Pompeii: A Rescue Mission."
The students are: Juliana Ouyang, Lynn Huang, Cora Ormseth, Catherine Tong, Cynthia Tong and Jasmine Wong; and coach Joyce Tong.
The team competed nationally in Sally Ride's Toy Challenge Competition held at the Aerospace Museum in San Diego, where team members were able to meet and speak with Sally Ride and fellow pioneering astronaut Ellen Ochoa.
In addition, a documentary film crew followed the team's progress throughout the process of developing their toy.
