Sally Ride Science Announces Spring Festivals and Events

Science festivals bring science content to life for students and educators
February 9, 2009
(San Diego, CA) -

This spring, Sally Ride Science will be hosting science festivals across the country to illustrate for girls and their teachers the fascinating world of science and the wide range of possibilities in the fields of science.

Sally Ride Science Festivals bring together hundreds of girls in fifth through eighth grades for a day of science and socializing. The spring festival line-up includes February 28 at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX; March 8 at California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA; April 18 at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA; April 25 at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX; and Towson University in Towson, MD. Each festival features an inspiring talk by an astronaut; discovery workshops with local scientists; workshops for parents and teachers; and a street fair with hands-on science activities, food and music. The cost of the festival is $20 per participant and advance registration is required. For information, visit http://www.sallyridefestivals.com.
